Nestled below the Alagalla mountain range in the mid-country of Sri Lanka (Ceylon) is a small traditional Tea Garden comprising of around 20 Acres (8 Hectares) run by a team of dedicated professionals. Due to the proprietor being overseas, the family owned and managed property was neglected, overgrown, and barely managing to stay afloat. After the current owner relocated back to Sri Lanka he realized that the plantation was in dire need of expert advice in the cultivation and Manufacture of tea. Mr. Denham Vedamuttu, a consultant with more than 30 years of experience in the Tea Industry, was entrusted with the job of elevating the Traditional Tea Garden to its’ former glory.

Denham, with all his years of experience, realized the massive advantage of the micro-climate and weather conditions created due to the proximity of the Alagalla Mountain. The location was unique and had great potential for Handmade and specialty teas. Based on these observations, an Artisanal and Green Tea Manufacture as a Cottage Industry was initiated.

We at the „Delicate Buds Tea Company“ firmly believe in a very high quality product, manufactured with the best raw material, to the highest manufacturing standards. Our “Tea Field to Tea Cup” concept ensures that raw materials are sourced only from our own plantation. This approach makes our unique products “Single Origin” Teas. To ensure the best quality, the full value chain of Manufacturing, Processing, Packaging, Marketing and Sales are handled by our Company.
